JoyPost · Legal

Privacy Policy

Effective July 1, 2026

The short version: we will never sell your information. Not your name, not your email, not your address. Ever.

1. What we collect

When you opt in to JoyPost, we collect what the exchange needs to work:

  • Your name and email address
  • Your mailing address
  • Optional details you choose to share: the name you'd like on your postcards and your hometown
  • Your international sending and receiving preferences
  • Exchange activity: Joy IDs, cards sent and received, delivery dates, and any postcard photos you upload

2. How we use it

  • To match you with neighbors and run the postcard rotation
  • To email you about your own activity: your Joy ID assignments, when your card arrives, and when a card is on its way to you
  • To display approved postcard photos in the public gallery
  • To keep the exchange safe and enforce our Terms of Service

3. Who sees your address

Your mailing address is shared with exactly one kind of person: a JoyPost neighbor who has been matched to send you a postcard, and only for that one card. Our Terms of Service forbid members from using your address for anything else. Your address is never displayed publicly, never appears in the gallery, and is never included in any lookup of a Joy ID.

4. We never sell your information

We will never sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone. We don't run third-party advertising, and we don't share your details with marketers or data brokers, full stop.

5. Service providers

Like most small services, we rely on a few tools to operate: hosting for the website and database, a contact-management system for member profiles, and an email service to send the notifications described above. These providers process your data only on our behalf, only to run JoyPost, and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your profile and exchange history for as long as you participate in JoyPost. If you ask us to delete your profile, we remove your personal information from active systems; a record of past exchanges may persist in backups for a limited time before it's purged.

7. Your choices and rights

  • You can update your profile and mailing address at any time.
  • You can pause participation (vacation mode) whenever you like.
  • You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your profile entirely. Just email hello@joinclubjoy.com.
  • You can ask us to remove a gallery photo of a card you sent or received.

8. Children

JoyPost is intended for adults. Members under 18 may participate only with the supervision and consent of a parent or legal guardian, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created a profile, contact us and we'll remove it.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page, and we'll email active members about any material change. One thing that will not change: we will never sell your information.
